Onnest has awarded the first major contract to a consortium led by Hjørring-based architects Hovaldt.
In addition to Hovaldt, the consortium includes Copenhagen based architects Lendager, landscape architects Schønherr and Tina-Henriette Kristiansen who has roles for climate and food organisation Arkaia and NASA.
The consortium made an impressive holistic approach to the Onnest vision of minimal physical footprint and impact, while at the same time having a strong local presence with a global vision.
Hovaldt and partners will be responsible for the interior and exterior design of the Onnest facility, including materials use and contributing to the production flow and working environment.
Hovaldt is a design studio in North Jutland with in-depth local knowledge of the area in Hirtshals where the new Onnest facilities will be located. Hovaldt's work is always based on the qualities of the place, the possibilities for optimising materials and constructions, and creating timeless architecture that lasts for many years.
Lendager is a design studio in Copenhagen that has a particularly strong focus on circular construction. Through many projects, they have shown that they are willing to take the leading role in the work of using recycled materials – also on a larger scale.
Schønherr is a landscape design studio, specializing in innovative planning, biodiversity, and sustainable design solutions. Rooted with a deep commitment to ecological resilience, they integrate nature-based strategies to create thriving environments, always ensuring harmony between people, nature, and architecture.
